Why donate to this web site?

As always, everyone is free to use this site without donating or paying a cent. I do support it with advertisements and I only put the PayPal donate button there because some people have expressed an interest in supporting this site in other financial ways.

So why would anyone want to do that?

I added the button because if people want to send in donations I'm not going to discourage it, and with enough financial support the site could blossom into something more socially impactful. As things stand now, there are a large list of features I would like to develop but haven't had the time or resources to do yet.

Some of these include:

Re-publish the schedules in more readable, userfriendly, searchable formats (considering bigger PDFs, text, HTML)

A more robust and active Metra forum where people can discuss anything from complaints, lost/found, good stories, ask questions, share Chicago / Metra tips, etc.

Twitter updates from the ground for each individual train line providing realtime updates (right now we recently added the general Metra twitter search box, which is cool too!)

A fully developed community-supported Chicago traveler and tourism section of the site (developed as www.ChicagoJourney.com)

A way to get important feedback from riders, commuters, tourists to lobby Metra decision makers and employees.Wireless Internet on all trains, anyone?
